I have heard about Alberta, though have never experienced her creations.

My favorite is as always, Molotov's. Gotta love the smell of a punk rock dive. ;)

I live in Chehalis WA. and there is a place called the Olympic Club. It is a restaurant, bar, pool hall, movie theatre, and hotel all in one. The bartenders (who I am just getting to know) know their drinks well but the beer on tap (Mcminamins) rocks....especitally the nitro.

In Los Angeles, for me, it's the Short Stop on Sunset in Echo Park, or the Blue Bongo, over right where Seedyscary Downtown and Artsyfartsylofty Downtown intersect.

Hey, Flamingo, my family and I stop at the Olympic Club every so often when we get my son from his dad's for his visitations. I haven't had anything from the bar yet, but it's a cool place, for sure.

We went in last night for dinner to celebrate our third anniversary. We had a Hemingway daiquiri that was "to die for."

Personally I've usually had trouble getting the lime/grapefruit balance right - this was perfect. If they had chilled the glass, I would have given the drink a "10."

The Negroni we had was very good too.

The menu said they use Myers Platinum Rum, wonder how much of a difference that makes - I usually use Bacardi.

If you like martini's especially of the Vodka persuasion I highly recomend Voda in SF really cool martini menu, with things like Pomedgranate, apple spice and ginger.
It's also a very hip place, with very modern decor.

Birdie's in Decatur GA (the martinis are faaaabulous)
Toppers in Santa Monica (for the view, laid back vibe & margaritas)
Roosters in Ogden Utah (for the Bees Knees microbrew)
The Cowboy Bar in Mountain View Wyoming (because Darlene pours 3 shots of gin in one drink)!
Blue Fin in NYC (for the signature blue fin martini & incredible sushi)

I had something called an Oregon City Lemonade at a McMenamin's in...wait for it...Oregon City, OR! It was sooo good, lemonade with raspberry vodka, pear brandy and a splash of soda. Served in a martini glass. Mommy had two!

I guess I'm saying the McMenamin Brothers are doing good all over the Northwest.

In SF, for cocktails, the Red Room. For guilty pleasures and watching the trannies flag down johns (two separate hobbies, i assure you) the Lush Lounge.

In Oakland, cuz I can't help it, starting at Van Kleef's, then bouncing between singing at The Alley and shooting pool at Smitty's until I can't see straight..

my roommate, though, is my favorite bartender, and no one mixes 'em meaner. Here's to Sunday Bloody(mary) Sunday on Monday...

Anyone been to the Catalyst -- on the alley across the street from 850 Bryant?

Yep -- the county jail in S.F. ..... if that weren't enuf to recommend it, it has a really nice cocktail menu and carefully prepared old standards ... and they serve food.

Don't all rush at once, ok? I still like the place....
